No racing experience is required and beginners are welcome! Just bring your skis or snowboard and don't forget your helmet! Racing with experienced coaches will help improve your skills in the gates but also when free skiing. Don't hesitate to join a fun team of passionate skier for next ski season.
Lee started sking at the age of 15 at Villa Olivia ski Area . At the age of 16 moved up to the "big" mountain of Wilmot. Raced Nastar at Cascade Mountain and in his 3rd year on skis had the 3rd lowest Nastar Handicap in the Nation. Lee went to Joliet Junior College where he started the school's first ever (fully funded and sponsored) JJC Alpine Racing Team. Raced in the National Collegiate Ski Association for 2 years before focusing on Academics at the University of St. Francis in Joliet IL. After graduating and working in the Chicago area, Lee moved to and lived between Denver and Vail for 2 years. His career pursuits brought him back to Chicago. Skiing was not a big priority until he was 31 years old and could afford to get back into the sport. He raced in a few CMSC races where he quickly progressed into "Elite" class which he won the overall within 3 years. When the ski diminsions changed, Lee dedicated himself to learning the new requirements, strategies and physilology necessary to race at an Elite level. Based on his ability to adapt and successfully compete nationally in the Masters Series and finish 3rd at Nastar National Championships, he then committed himself to coaching and assisting others up thier game as skis and tactics continued to change. He has been part of the Wilmot Mountain Coaching Team since 2003. Lee continues to race and finished 2nd overall in the CMSC Elite Class. Lee is the founder of LEEDmedia.com and is the owner and President of LEED Performance, Inc. delivering Training, Process and Leadership Consultanting as well as an Executive and Leadearship Coaching for his Clients wich include: J.D Power & Associates, Audi of America, Mecedez Benz, AT&T, Hyundai of America, Ford Motor Company and Severstal Steel Company. His passion for self assessment and performance improvement seems to serve well for the adventures of life , skiing and the day to day challenges we all face!
Scott learned to ski at age 12, and started racing a year later. Through high school and college he worked with the NASTAR program and ski school at Mt. Brighton, Michigan. Active in the racing community at Wilmot Mountain since moving to Chicago, Scott has been a coach for the past ten years, working with both adults and juniors.
Jack started skiing when he was 3 years old . His first race was at the age of 7. Jack competed in both frestyle and alpine disciplines racing and training in the U.S. and Europe. In 1983 Jack moved to Utah to follow freestyle career, but injuries pushed him back into racing. Jack started racing USSA Masters in "88. Raced to Intermoutain class 1 championship. Jack has been to many Masters National Championships. Consistently in the top 10, with several medals in Slalom. Jack began coaching at Wilmot in 1999 with Grant Brown and the Wilmot Junior team as well as coaching adults. Jack continues racing USSA, coaching and pursuing his passion of assisting others become the best skier they can possibly be.
Pete has been skiing since he was 3 learning at Villa Olivia in Bartlett,IL. He fell in love with ski racing at the age of 15 and at 16 he was running the Nastar program at Villa Olivia, IL. He started racing in the CMSC program at 29 years old and worked his way up to the Elite Class.
To stay in shape he started bike racing in the summer and raced for the Salsa Cycles factory team.
Beyond winning medals, ski racing has become a major part of his life, his kids started racing and that how it became more than a hobby it's now an amazing family bonding time.
Ski racing friends have become a second family where everyone shares the same passion. Pete have been learing the ropes of caoching and courses setting from the masters and is bringing his experience to make the new Wilmot Mountain Racing program the best in the Midwest.
Bill started skiing at the age of 5 on the icy slopes in mountains of New England in. He began racing in 7th grade and raced on his high school varsity alpine racing team in Western Massachusetts. When Bill moved to Chicago, he started racing again with CMSC and quickly progressed into the Elite class of CMSC racing as well as participating in Nastar and USSA Masters programs. Bill has worked on the CMSC racing committee and provides coaching to adult racers on the hill at Wilmot through the Wilmot Adult Racing program. He has a passion for ski racing and enjoys helping other racers improve their performance.
Roger Medonia raced in college,USSA Senior, CMSC, USSA Masters (central & Rocky Mt) Qualified for USA Citizen team (pre-master program ) Started coaching in 1975 Level 1 coaching certified.
